Euroregion Congress - 3 and 4 December 2007
The four Partner-Regions of the Pyrénées-Méditerranée Euroregion have decided to organise a Euroregion Congress on the 3rd and 4th of December, 2007.
The theme of the congress will be Research, Innovation and Business in the fields of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), Transport, Space, Sustainable Development, Biotechnologies etc.
On this occasion, the Midi-Pyrénées Region will hand over the presidency of the Euroregion to the Government of the Balearic Islands, and the EGTC (European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation) will sign its declaration of intent before Danuta Hübner, the European Commissioner for Regional Policy.
The partners in the Euroregion are Midi-Pyrénées, Languedoc-Roussillon, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. Together they aim to :
- make the Euroregion the principal centre for innovation and sustainable growth in south-east Europe,
- develop the Euroregion’s university and science sectors, as a platform for reinforcing cooperation in the European and global context, capable of reacting to the needs of the new economy : making the Euroregion a knowledge society,
- raise the Euroregion’s profile by speaking with one voice when dealing with European bodies or the member states concerning the Euroregion’s needs for trans-Pyrenean transport infrastructures,
